Square One was founded by Peter Reitz who moved to the Caribbean from Germany 36 years ago (1980). His professional background at that time was in Dental Technology and fine mechanics.

 

This attention to detail has been implemented into his Construction business which he started 15 years ago after he sold his Dental business. “I have always embraced new challenges and since I did quite a bit of property development in all my years in the Caribbean the next step evolved and Square One Ltd was established!”

This par 71, 18 hole championship course is set within Cap Estate East Development. It is 6829 yards of sprawling green slopes, dotted with attractive ponds, swaying palms and ancient tropical trees. It is challenging yet extremely aesthetic.
 
 
The elegant clubhouse greets guests with arched windows and the sheer grace of classic Caribbean plantation architecture. The 20,000 square feet offers spatial locker rooms and other luxurious guest conveniences. The five star restaurant features a fusion of international and Caribbean cuisines that can be enjoyed in the casual al fresco comfort of with the added ambience of a soft tropical breeze as experienced on the expansive veranda overlooking the course.
 
 
The St. Lucia Golf Club offers perhaps the most challenging 18 holes of golf in the Caribbean. While this undulating par-71 only plays 6,685 yards off the Blues, the course attracts a USGA rating of 74.3, taking well into account the strong winds, numerous water hazards, fast greens and 16 out-of-bounds which we hope you will not encounter during your round. Our 20,000sq ft clubhouse is situated just 5 minutes from Pigeon Island and Rodney Bay, and within 30 minutes of any hotel north of Castries. The late Dennis F. Nardoni, then President and CEO of Cap Estate St. Lucia Ltd. and major investor on St. Lucia was the man with the Vision. His busines interests and investment holdings were diverse and involved real estate developments, high end condominium developments, as well as hotels and restaurants throughout Illinois, Florida and the Caribbean.
 
 
In the late nineties, Dennis; a keen golfer, saw Cap Estate in its entirety and immediately decided that this area and St. Lucia were to play a major role in his future. He knew that with the right investment and development he could bring success to this area and create a lasting legacy.
 
 
His first accomplishment was the redesign of the St. Lucia Golf Course, turning nine (9) holes and 120 acres into an eighteen (18) hole championship golf course envied throughout the Caribbean golfing world.

State Insurance Corporation was established in 1977 mainly in response to the common concern for the extent of foreign exchange leakage created in a foreign dominated sector. It was established with a capital sum of EC $100,000 loan by the Government and given the status of a Department of Government.
The limitations of this form of organization were obvious, not the least being the lack of flexibility in decision making and the General Manager acting as Corporation sole being subject to all the benefits and lack of benefits of a corporate body.
